Bronze Moveable-type Printing
Date : 2015-08-25 Browsing Times : 5962In Song Dynasty, Bi Sheng invented clay movable-type printing. After that, there came books of movable-type printing made of wood and tin. In Ming Dynasty, copper type printing was widely used, of which, copper type printing books of Hua’s and An’s family in Wuxi were most famous, especially Huitong Printing House of Hua Sui and Guipo Printing House of An Guo with a long-standing reputation. In the 3rd year of Emperor Hongzhi in Ming Dynasty (1490), Huitong Library of Hua Sui firstly printed books as Memorials Submitted to the Throne by Officials in Song Dynasty in copper type. Successively, An Guo also printed books as The Comprehensive History of Irrigation Works in Wuzhong in copper type. Popularity of copper type printing was another great progress in printing technology after invention of clay type printing, and was a significant symbol for the maturity of Chinese printing technology.
