Every time we hear plaintive sound of Erhu (a musical instrument) at night, we always think of A’bing and his musical piece Two Springs Reflect the Moon as well as Liu Tianhua, founder of modern playing of Erhu. These two Erhu players were both from Wuxi; as a result, it is natural that we consider Wuxi as a holy land of Erhu inChina. Made use of strong points and skills of others, A’bin reflected his feeling towards miserable life through music. His works are sincere and stirring, full of strong impact of art, reflecting a healthy but deep sense of people of low level; while Liu Tianhua represented the tendency from Erhu art to modern musical performance. He made use of techniques of tremolo from violin and creation means of western instrumental music and melted techniques as finger press of lute and overtone performance of Guqin. Meanwhile, he established and used multiple performance method, adding art depth of Erhu from music to performance. As a result, this folk instrument attracted little attention before was changed to a solo instrument in modern age, and became leading character and representative of traditional Chinese music.
